Entrance Requrements

The M.Sc. Engineering Geology course is highly demanded course in Nepal and there is a enormous pressure from the students to enroll in the course. 

Please be advised that, due to the rules of Tribhuvan University, the MSc Engineering Geology program will be also announced as per the regular calendar of Institute of Science and Technology (IoST). The announcement will be done in October-November each year. We would therefore advise that all students to follow the announcement of IoST submit your application for 2016 entry as soon as possible. Candidates with Bachelor degree in Geology from Tribhuvan University or its equivalent from a recognized institute or university are eligible for admission in M.Sc. in Engineering Geology. Mathematical background is very much beneficial for the course.  

The medium of instruction of the course is English. Applicants whose first language is not English, or whose B.Sc. degree is not in English medium, will need to satisfy language requirements determined by the CDG. Please consult with the Program Coordinator for more information after the submission of the form.

Fee, Funding and Enrollment

M.Sc. engineering geology is a full paid course in CDG. The course fee is NRs. 65,000 per semester for '73 batch.

Scholarships at CDG

The MSc Engineering Geology Program has a range of partial scholarships available for Nepali students commencing their studies on this program in 2016. But scholarship program will not cover full fee and will be provided to the best five students who has shown good academic performance in first semester. This scholarship will be sponsored by local companies and detail will be announced later. 

Selection Criteria

The candidates will be selected for the admission on the basis of merit, which will be evaluated by:

      ·         The marks secured in the entrance test for admission taken by the CDG (80%). 

       ·         The percentage of the marks secured in Bachelor Degree (20%). 

Duration of the Program:

M.Sc. engineering geology program will be completed in four semesters within two academic years.  A student should complete the course within 5 years. One semester is 90 working days or 15 Weeks. For theory course one credit is equivalent to 15 teaching hours in a semester or one credit equals to one-teaching hour in a week. Likewise, for practical course one credit is equal to 60 practical hours in a semester or one credit equals to 4 practical hours in a week.
