Central Department of Geology was established in 1967 under the Institute of Science and Technology (IOST) of Tribhuvan University with an aim of producing highly skilled personnel and experts in the field of geological sciences. The department is the only institution of higher education in geology in Nepal. The department conducts both MSc and Ph D programmes.
An applicant seeking admission to M. Sc. Geology must hold a B. Sc. degree in Geology and appear in an entrance examination. There are thirty (30) seats available in the first year.
